ACCOMPLISHMENTS AND GOALS
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- We have become familiar and comfortable with the layout of our site
- We have identified and become familiar with the vegetation at our site and have decided which plants do not belong there and chosen new ones to take their place
- We have begun to implement a plan to restore the site such as sod removal, log inoculation, and the addition of new plants
- The dead pine has been removed and we have chosen to leave the other semi-failing pine for effect
- We have attempted a culturing of the fungi that inhabits the site, that failed due to culture contamination
- We have begun to choose our procurement options for the new plants and fungi
GOALS:
- We will be de-sodding the site by hand so as not to damage the roots of the young trees
- We will be adding more dead logs and those will be inoculated with Polyporus sulphureus (Chicken of the Woods), Pleurotus ostreotus (Pearl Oyster), and Trametes versicolor (Turkey Tail)
- We will be procuring and propagating several new plants to the area: Mahonia repens (Creeping Oregon Grape), Arctostaphylos uva-ursi (Kinnikinnick), and Shepherdia canadensis (Soapberry)
- We will be adding new signage to the area
